Creating a Legacy, Studio Portrait

I love this portrait, which was created several years ago for my husband’s parents. I include it because creating a legacy isn’t something we set about to do in our lives, but through the act of living we begin to leave a legacy for our loved ones. I started thinking about this when I saw the paving stone one of my brother-in-laws shared on social media – it listed multiple generations of Finns who had attended the school where the paver was to be laid.

Legacy.

And this portrait is representative of that legacy too. It is something that hangs on the wall at our house. My kids can look at this portrait and see their grandparents daily. When they do, they can see their grandparents smiling at them, and know that they are loved.
