Men working with floating containment boom, Seattle

I was captivated watching these men work with this floating containment boom while we waited for our cruise ship to disembark in Seattle. I don’t have a deep knowledge of cruise ship policies, but from what I understand these containment booms are deployed around cruise ships while they are docked at port as a preventative measure (in case of an oil spill, perhaps). At any rate, they circled around in the water, folding up the boom so that the cruise ship was no longer barricaded off from the rest of the port. An underappreciated job, but necessary for protecting our planet.

Location: Seattle, Washington.
