Bittersweet Berries in Winter

Berries in the middle of winter? Yep. These ones stay on the trees and provide a food source for birds that stay in Michigan during the winter. I found these bittersweet berries while on a snowy walk with my pup last winter. The trails at Leslie Science + Nature Center have been really nice to explore over the years – especially since they have a variety of trail lengths. That’s important when you’re spending time in the great outdoors with kids…. Because they get tired out more easily than you’d expect sometimes. We haven’t been to LSNC much this year, and that’s partly because my kids have aged out of the weekday programs. But it is a well-loved site in our family, and the kids have made many fond memories there.
