What Do You Want from Your Portrait Session?

While portrait photography is typically thought of as more “traditional,” at Betsy’s Photography you’re not limited to the norm. We enjoy planning unique and personalized sessions with all of our portrait clients. We’ve been asked why we don’t just tell our clients the best choices for their session… and the answer is simple. The more thought you put into your session, the happier you will be with the end result. Of course, we are always happy to suggest some of our favorite locations, but in the end, it comes down to what will be the best fit for your style and personality.

Before you start planning your session, it’s helpful think about what you want. Chances are pretty good that you’ve decided to schedule a portrait session to commemorate a milestone, or to create memories for you and your family to enjoy for years to come. What memories do you want to remember? It’s also a good idea to think about what you like. Do you like more traditional things, or does your taste draw you to new, cutting edge styles? If you don’t know the answers to questions like these, that’s ok. Betsy will spend some time with you before your session to help you decide what you want out of your session.

Once you’ve thought about what you want from your portrait session, the next step is to start planning the details. Again, whether you need a starting point or know exactly what you want from your portrait session, we can help. We will discuss location options (in-studio or on-location), clothing suggestions, and anything else that you may think of that will help during this planning stage. In addition to more casual and traditional portraiture, Betsy is always willing to try creative approaches, it all depends on what you want. More than just a photographer, Betsy is an artist, and she will work personally with you to make sure that your portrait is everything you’ve imagined.
