Two’s company… Three’s a family!

Since I’m my own boss, and I’ve got everything under control… there’s no need to keep the excitement under wraps (well, for any longer!). Steven and I are expecting our first little Finn:)… sometime in March of 2011. It’s all very exciting, we’ve been getting lots of advice and tips from everyone who is already a parent… of course!

Here’s our 10 week ultrasound, which I just got digitized. Very cool to see baby’s tiny heart beating at about 150 beats per minute!

Fortunately, the kittens have been great with babies and kids, so with a little training and prep, we shouldn’t have too much trouble getting Ginger and Cinnamon used to being around things that smell like baby.

Oh, and one last thing: Betsy’s Photography will remain open and operating as usual. We will schedule a brief holiday around the baby’s due date, however we will be operating at full capacity as long as possible.

Peanut :: Newborn Portrait

Baby Peanut came to the studio a couple days after she was born… boy was she tiny! Her parents participated in the session too, and we created some adorable family portraits for them to enjoy. Peanut was a joy to have in the studio — she mostly slept, and aside from a feeding break, things were pretty uneventful! Since we did these portraits, Peanut has gained about a third of her original body weight… and is quickly catching up to those “standards” that the doctors love use when measuring kids and babies.

Congratulations to the new parents are in order too — Peanut is a simply enjoyable baby!!

Mike :: Senior Portraits Michigan

Mike had his senior portraits done at our studio recently. While we kept things simple, Mike did decide to have me create senior portraits for him both in studio and outdoors. I love the dramatic edgy feel in a few of the studio portraits. And in the outdoors portraits, I love the bold color combination (yellow, blue, green). Plus, an added bonus is that this is right outside the studio. So we didn’t have to drive anywhere, or park and walk in the sweltering heat!

Angel :: Outdoors Family Portrait Session

You might remember Athena, the adorable puppy dog I photographed over a year ago. Well, Athena convinced her human, Angel, to schedule a family portrait session a few weeks ago! So, we planned a relaxed session at their home, including all three people, and all four dogs.

Bear is the oldest, and since he’s hard of hearing and can’t really see, we did a portrait of him being petted by “his” human. Kerby posed for the camera like a show dog (well, with the aid of treats)… and Catherine, well, I captured her doing what she does best — swim in the river.

I love all these portraits, but especially love the image I created of the whole family. This is going to look great as a wall portrait in Angel’s home!

In case you missed it, here’s the portrait of Athena that won an international award, and was featured in the PPA Showcase book:

Jasmine :: Ann Arbor Senior Portraits

Jasmine is a 2011 senior at Pioneer High School. She came to the studio for her senior portrait session this summer! We started indoors, and then proceeded downtown for some more variety. I really loved how these turned out, and can’t wait to share them with you. Really gorgeous stuff!
