Going Once… Going Twice…
Sometimes we get to attend events that we’re not photographing! Tonight was one of those nights; we attended a benefit auction for the Educational Foundation of Dexter (It’s a non-profit that provides financial support for the Dexter Schools — often in the form of grants).
In addition to the live and silent auction items, there was great food. Dinner had a number of stations, such as a nifty potato martini bar, and pasta stations where you could “make your own pasta” — e.g. choose the ingredients, and voila! it’s prepared before your very eyes.
There were a few unique things that caught our eye! One item was a larger-than-life set of the Simpsons — Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. It was probably the hot item for the night! At least for the silent auction. We had fun checking in to see what the set was going for. No, we didn’t try to take the Simpsons home with us…. Although it would’ve been kind of cool. I’m sure the winner will give them a great home :).
We had a great time, it was neat to see what some of the kids had made for the auction, and the only downside was the weather… By the time we left, it was pretty slick outside. Thank goodness for 4-wheel drive!

One of our local movie theaters had them for the Simpsons movie promotions a while back — they donated them to the auction!

Yes we did! Redwings (NHL Hockey for those not in Mid-East) bobbleheads, and signature series hockey pucks!
