“What’s Your Favorite Location?”
Friday, January 25th, 2008What is your favorite location around the studio for location portrait sessions? I need ideas! — A.L.
Honestly, my favorite location depends on the client I am working with. I am always excited to photograph on location, because the possibilities are endless. When we start planning a location portrait session, I always make sure to see what my client had in mind. Sometimes there is a specific place that means a lot to my client, and often, that turns out to be a wonderful location for their portrait session.
Yes, I have a few standard locations that I suggest when discussing location portrait sessions, but I really prefer to ask what you want before giving my ideas. If the location has a special meaning for you, it makes your location portrait session even more meaningful. Whether that location is outdoors at your favorite park, or indoors at your local church or school, if there is a spot you love, we can discuss creating your portrait there.
The more personalized we can make your location portrait session, the better. And by focusing on places that are meaningful to you, we can create a unique portrait for you — that won’t look just like everyone else’s family portrait. So, before cluttering your mind with a number of locations around downtown Ann Arbor, or neat spots in the village of Dexter, I’d like to ask you, “where is your favorite location?”
