Betsy Finn’s Prints Receive Awards at Regionals
It is my pleasure to tell you about the results of the 2007 Mid-East States Affiliated Print Competition and Exhibition, which I competed in this weekend. Over 200 photographers entered the six-state regional competition. Each photographer is permitted to enter four prints — all four of my entries won awards and were on display in Dayton, OH.
My print, “Fearless,” earned a blue ribbon with a score that earned it a “Merit Seal,” and three others received green ribbons and honorable mentions: “This Little Piggy” — “Aloha!!” — “Listen! They’re Home!”

Over 800 prints were submitted for judging, of which a fraction were selected to be awarded Blue Ribbons from all categories. By earning a Blue Ribbon at the Mid East States Affiliated Print Competition, I will earn a Merit when the “Fearless” is submitted to the International Print Competition of the Professional Photographers of America, Inc (PPA).
After earning 25 Merits, a photographer may earn his/her “Master of Photography” degree from the PPA.
Professional photographers who hold a minimum of a Master of Photography degree judged the event. These judges arrived from throughout the United States for this regional competition. The competition consists of entries from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio, and is one of the largest print competitions in the country.
