Express Yourself & Enjoy Life!
One thing I feel is important for my clients is that they help plan their session. Why? Well, the more input I get from you, the more your personality will show and the more you will enjoy sharing your portrait prints with family and friends! The pre-session planning can be as simple as exchanging a few emails, although I’m always happy to sit down and discuss choices and options with my clients.
While it’s especially important to create unique expressions for my clients, regardless of the session type, remember that there’s no harm in keeping things relaxed and fun! Yes, there will be some structure – but I want my clients to be relaxed as I work with you throughout the session. The portraits we’re creating, after all, are of you – why shouldn’t you express yourself?
Passing on Experiences - So what steps are you taking this year to commemorate the milestones in your life? Aside from the obvious (investing in professional portraiture, of course!), I want to share some things I learned from my experiences this past year.
Don’t get too caught up in the details – it really is important when you’re preparing to graduate, or celebrating anniversaries too. Sometimes we get too excited to reach the finish line that we forget to enjoy the process of getting there. Do your best, yes, but don’t expect unrealistic goals of yourself (this is a hard-learned lesson coming from a perfectionist!).
Enjoy Your Vacations – yes, it seems obvious. But it IS possible to plan your vacation so full of events that when you get back you need a vacation from your vacation! One thing that helped make our vacations this past year so relaxing is the fact that we planned nothing as one of our activities. It’s not only relaxing, it allows you spontaneity; when you inevitably find a tour or day trip you are dying to do, you have the time AND the energy to enjoy the fun!
Don’t wait for life to slow down – enjoy your experiences as life brings them to you! When you’re ready to express yourself, you’re ready.
