I love photographing kids. Their personalities are so vibrant, and I can always create some fun images. This pair of sisters came in with their mom for a studio portrait session. I absolutely love the adorable expressions on the sisters in this portrait below. Happy, natural, and definitely not posed. Plus, aren’t their sailor dresses cute?

And yes, binky was included for some of the portrait session. But the blue tones really work with this portrait.

I keep a stash of toys at the studio, and depending on how the portrait session goes, I’ll typically pull out some different things. This time, my feather boa was very popular. The girls took turns wearing it…

Finally, I was able to capture the perfect moment. Mom put on an impromptu puppet show for the girls, and while they were having a good time, I talked them into giving each other a big hug. Cute and casual. I love it!

I really enjoy seeing how each and every one of my client portrait sessions unfold. Even in the studio, no two sessions are ever alike. But one thing’s for sure — I do my best to make sure everyone has a great experience, and I always capture creative portraits for my clients.
Remember, studio portraits don’t have to be boring. In the old days, people had to stand stiff and still because of technological limitations. But, with today’s equipment, we can photograph kids on the fly — that sense of motion and spontaneity does wonders for any portrait!
